The OTL project kit includes everything you need to build an Open Task Light except for the 3D printed components. All parts can be printed from one 1kg spool of PLA.


Before you buy: The Open Task Light Hardware Kit is the starting point for a challenging, hands-on build, not a ready-to-assemble lamp. You’ll need to print more than 20 parts, carefully assemble the light, and spend time tuning stuff along the way.

Every printer, material, and environment is different, so calibration, inspection, and occasional reprints are a normal part of the process. If that sounds rewarding to you, you’ll probably enjoy the build! I recommend reviewing the Printing and Assembly Guides before ordering.

Included in the kit:

  • Electronics, hardware, and custom parts needed to assemble a printed Open Task Light
  • Specialty printed parts including capacitive brightness-control buttons, an ambient-light sensor window, and a control-board clip
  • An Open Task Light sticker
  • Steel weight material: one 550g bag with the clamping base kit or three 550g bags with the freestanding base kit.
  • The weight ships separately, and its calculated shipping cost is included at checkout. You can remove it from your cart if you prefer to source it yourself.

Not included:

  • 3D printed components, with the specialty-part exceptions listed above
